Dave has been a member of the
Nebraska Auctioneers Association since 1983. He has participated
in the Nebraska Auctioneers’ bid calling contest for several
years, and has placed in the top 10 many times.
Dave is a member of the award-winning Ralston Volunteer Fire
Department where he has served for over 40 years, holding the
offices of 1st assistant fire chief and fire instructor. He was
runner- up and firefighter of the year as well as named citizen
of the year in 1998 by the Ralston Chamber of Commerce.
Dave is also an avid amateur radio operator N0GOZ and a life
member of AK-SAR-BEN amateur radio club. He has called many Ham
Radio auctions for the AK-SAR-BEN and LINCOLN radio clubs and
silent key auctions.
Dave has retired from the City of Ralston after 40 years,
holding the title of Public Works Supervisor, thus developing a
neighborly and first-name way of working with the public.
Dave takes professional pride in having auctioned for many
respected area auctioneers including Hank's Auction Service,
Leon Ruff & Frank Ryban Auction Service, Polenz Auctions,
Starman Brothers Auctions, Schram Auction and Jensen Brothers
Auctions.
Dave is keenly aware that he represents sellers but he must also
be able to address the needs and concerns of buyers. He has a
strong voice, a delightful sense of humor and an agile mind. He
enjoys mentoring younger auctioneers. He is living proof that
his is a fast-paced, unpredictable career that can bring
financial rewards to whomever demonstrates adeptitude in all
these areas.
Dave Shively is highly regarded in the auction profession and by
his friends, colleagues and neighbors. Over the years their
respect for him has grown immeasurably. All have found him to be
an upstanding person of the highest moral character. He is
scrupulously honest his affairs, and he conducts his life with
integrity, respectability, intelligence, and competence,
properly tempered with human compassion and a contagious
courtesy. He is known for his strong work ethic and holds
himself to the highest standards of professionalism.
